Cancellation Of the St Patrick's Day Parade 2021

As we continue to deal with the impacts of COVID-19, regrettably we have decided to cancel the St. Patrick's day parade, as well as, all events for the 2021 Irish Festival


The Irish Society has been active in the greater Ottawa-Gatineau area in various forms since 1957. On March 6, 1995, The Society was re-organized and officially incorporated in the Province of Ontario as The Irish Society of the National Capital Region as a non-profit charitable corporation (Ontario Corporation Number 1119278).

The focal point for everything Irish in the National Capital Region


  • To strengthen the Irish/Irish-Canadian community
  • To promote Irish culture and heritage
  • To promote the interests of the Irish/Irish-Canadian community
  • To create a greater awareness of the Irish Society within the college and university community
  • To provide appropriate financial support to members of The Society, as required.

The Society's main objectives are the promotion of Irish / Irish-Canadian culture and heritage, and the strengthening and support of the Irish / Irish-Canadian community in the Ottawa region.

The Irish Society's activities include:

  • Members Christmas Party
  • Ottawa Irish Festival (previously Irish Week) held annually in mid-March, featuring a variety of cultural and social events, including the annual St. Patrick's Parade and Party
  • publication of our members' newsletter - Irish Society / NCR Newsletter
  • operation of the Irish Society's website (
  • Celtic Cross Memorial commemoration
  • other cultural, social and fundraising events
