The Irish Society has been active in the greater Ottawa-Gatineau area in various forms since 1957. In 1995, The Society was re-organized and officially incorporated in the Province of Ontario as The Irish Society of the National Capital Region.
The Society’s main objectives are the promotion of Irish / Irish-Canadian culture and heritage, and the strengthening and support of the Irish / Irish-Canadian community in the Ottawa region.

The Irish Society’s activities include:
- Ottawa Irish Festival (previously Irish Week) held annually in mid-March, featuring a variety of cultural and social events, including the annual Irish Society / NCR NewsletterSt. Patrick’s Parade and Party, and the Erin Luncheon in support of St. Patrick’s Home of Ottawa. An elected volunteer Board of Directors manages the affairs of The Society. Our Annual General Meeting is held in June. People interested in joining the Society, or becoming active in the activities of the Society are encouraged to contact us.
